Project Description

Connecting Generations
I stumbled across Hayim Herring’s work a few days ago because a friend recommended it. I see why. As a peacebuilder, I’m interested in building relationships across all lines of division. In Herring’s case, those that span generational lines. He’s done his research by reading the key literature and interviewing upwards of sixty not quite randomly selected individuals. And, he reaches a set of conclusions that kept me riveted and that I’ll be incorporating in my own work. We all need fulfilling relationships that cross generational lines. Many things–including technology–tend to make us more isolated. However, if we intentionally seek to build relationships across generational lines, we can learn about each other and empower each other. And, this was a fun book to read, which I rarely say about social science mongraphs.
A book every peacebuilder should read.
