Locally led peacebuilding is the current fad in our field. Hopefully, it won't turn into a fly by night fad like hula hoops or lava lamps. Locally led projects should be here to stay. Nonetheless, they are not enough. To see why both of those statements are true, keep reading.
Build Peace 2019 ended on Saturday. The sixth version of this traveling conference that blends peacebuilding, information technology, and the arts took place in San Diego and Tijuana. As always, a great time as had by all. Next year, Cape Town.
The creation of the Mary Hoch Center for Reconciliation has drawn my attention back to this all important subject and led me to think about how we have to apply it to the lasting divisions in the United States, starting with those over race.
